Gasgoo News According to Bloomberg reports, after the Brexit referendum in the United Kingdom this June, business and consumer confidence has been under pressure, and the growth of European car sales slowed down in June. The industry association, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), stated in a recent statement that the number of vehicle registrations in the EU and European Free Trade Association markets last month increased by 6.5% year-on-year compared with 1.51 million in the same period last year. June marked the 34th consecutive month of sales growth in the European market, although the growth rate has continued to slow down since March.
Car sales increased by 9.1% in the first half of this year, with a total sales volume of 8.09 million vehicles.
Stimulated by the growing demand in the EU market last month, the sales of Renault and Fiat Chrysler were driven up. Other Asian car brands and European luxury car manufacturers also achieved sales growth.
Among the top ten automakers in the region, Renault saw a high growth rate in June. Driven by the sales of its main models including Captur, Kadjar and Espace, the overall sales surged by 20% year-on-year.
Fiat Chrysler's vehicle registrations increased by 13% year-on-year, mainly driven by the sales of its Fiat brand (with a 14% year-on-year growth). The brand has just launched a new Tipo compact sedan. Meanwhile, Jeep's sales increased by 16% year-on-year, which also made great contributions to driving Fiat Chrysler's sales growth.
Among many Japanese automakers, the combined sales of Toyota and Lexus increased by 6.7% year-on-year, while Nissan's sales fell by 2.9%. South Korea's Hyundai and Kia saw their sales increase by 13% and 14% respectively.
